Manifesto
As a candidate for the Faculty Representative position in the student government elections, I, Mcmillan Mamvura, recognize the challenges that students face in terms of poor communication and limited access to study materials and Failure to secure attachment places. These issues can hinder the academic success and overall experience of students, and it is essential to address them effectively. In this blog post, I outline a comprehensive plan to improve communication and access to study materials for all students.
I. Improving Communication, once elected I will:
Establish a regular newsletter: To ensure that students are informed about important events, deadlines, and updates, I will establish a regular newsletter that will be sent to all students via email. This newsletter will cover all faculty-related matters and will be sent at least once a month.
Create a faculty-student forum: To provide a platform for students to voice their concerns and suggestions, I will create a faculty-student forum. This forum will be held once a semester, and students will have the opportunity to discuss any issues they may have with faculty members.
Utilize social media: To reach a wider audience and engage with students more effectively, I will utilize social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. I will create a dedicated account for the Faculty Representative position, and students can follow this account to receive updates and information.
II. Access to Study Materials
Develop an online repository: To provide students with easy access to study materials, I will work with the university library to develop an online repository of all course materials. This repository will include lecture notes, readings, and other resources that students can access at any time.
Collaborate with professors: To ensure that all course materials are available, I will work closely with professors to obtain all necessary materials and make them available online.
Provide printing facilities: To support students who may not have access to a computer or internet, I will work with the university to provide printing facilities where students can print out materials as needed.
NB. Meanwhile you can access note i have uploaded on this blog.
III. Support for Internships and Career Development
Create an internship database: To provide students with access to internship opportunities, I will work with local businesses and organizations to create a database of available internships. This database will be accessible to all students, and will include information on application deadlines, job descriptions, and contact information.
Offer career development workshops: To support students in their career development, I will work with the university’s career center to offer workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
Provide mentorship opportunities: To provide students with guidance and support in their academic and professional pursuits, I will work with faculty members and local professionals to offer mentorship opportunities.
In conclusion, my plan for improving communication and access to study materials will help to address the challenges that students face in their academic journey. By providing a platform for students to voice their concerns, improving access to course materials, and supporting internships and career development, I am confident that I can make a positive impact on the academic experience of all students.
