Step 1: Access Google Scholar
To start, open a web browser and go to www.scholar.google.com. This will take you to the Google Scholar homepage.
Step 2: Search for Sources
In the search bar at the top of the page, type in your search query. You can search for a specific author, topic, or keyword. For example, if you’re looking for articles on “climate change,” you would type “climate change” into the search bar.
Step 3: Select Sources
Once you have your search results, go through them one by one and select the sources that are most relevant to your research. You can use the filters on the left side of the page to narrow down your search results by author, date, and more.
Step 4: Create a Citation
To create a citation for each source you select, click on the “Cite” button next to the source. This will take you to a new page with the citation information.
Step 5: Choose Citation Style
On this page, you will need to choose the citation style you want to use. In this case, we’re using Harvard style. Click on the “Harvard” option to select it.
Step 6: Fill in the Citation Details
Once you have selected your citation style, you will need to fill in the citation details for each source. This includes the author’s name, title of the article, publication date, and more. You can copy and paste this information directly from the Google Scholar page.
Step 7: Generate the Citation
Once you have filled in all the citation details, click on the “Generate” button to create the citation. This will generate a correctly formatted citation in Harvard style.
Step 8: Save the Citation
Once you have generated the citation, you can save it to your Google Scholar library or download it as a CSV file. To save the citation, click on the “Save” button and choose where you want to save the file.
Step 9: Use the Citation
Now that you have your citations, you can use them in your research paper or project. Make sure to properly reference your sources using the citations you have created.
